How it works
This online converter removes accents and replaces letters from other languages with similar letters.
Some examples of conversions are:
- á -> a
- é -> e
- í -> i
- ó -> o
- ú -> u
- ñ -> n
- ß -> ss
- No equivalence -> replaced by user choice
- etc
Conversion can be used so that rare letters do not appear on some older computer systems.
Technical Explanation
Converts Unicode (UTF8) text or 8-bit extended ASCII text into normal ASCII text (7-bit ASCII). It removes non-ASCII characters and replaces them with the closest equivalent. If no equivalence exists, it is replaced by the character chosen by the user.
